Strolling through Mile End, it’s easy to spot people with a bagel in one hand and a paper cup from the same shop in the other. Wanting to be a part of the culture, I found myself imitating these Montréal habits, as George Bernard Shaw once said “Imitation is not just the sincerest form of flattery, it’s sincerest form of learning”. And I told myself that, one day, I’d truly feel like I belonged.
